StatSheet's Big South Player of the Week for February 18th goes to High Point's Allan Chaney. High Point's Adam Weary has won StatSheet Big South Freshman of the Week. Also, Branimir Mikulic from High Point has won StatSheet's Big South 6th Man of the Week. Chaney put up 12 points per game. The High Point senior put these numbers up in wins against Longwood and Liberty.
Chaney posted 8 points and 10 rebounds in 29 minutes in a big 82-53 win over Longwood. He followed that up with 16 points and 13 rebounds in a narrow 73-68 victory over Liberty.
This is the second StatSheet Big South Player of the Week honor for Allan Chaney. He has also been a runner-up once. The runner-up this week is Campbell sophomore Trey Freeman. Honorable mention goes to sophomore Javonte Green from Radford. The highest ranking player from Liberty was John Caleb Sanders who finished fifth.
StatSheet Big South Freshman of the Week: High Point's Adam Weary
Adam Weary was on the floor an average of 28 minutes while starting both games for High Point. In the win over Longwood, Weary registered 14 points and 4 assists. Following that in the win over Liberty, he added 8 points and 5 rebounds.
This is a new honor for Adam Weary, the first time he has won StatSheet Big South Freshman of the Week. The runner-up is Michael Kessens from Longwood. Honorable mention goes to Jerome Hill from Gardner-Webb.
StatSheet Big South 6th Man of the Week: High Point's Branimir Mikulic
Senior Branimir Mikulic, a 6-8 reserve forward, averaged 17 minutes over the two games for the Panthers. In the win over Longwood, Mikulic took the lead in scoring for the Panthers with 15 points on 85% shooting. After that, in the win against Liberty, he racked up 6 points and 5 rebounds.
This is the first StatSheet Big South 6th Man of the Week award for Branimir Mikulic. Our own Joel Vander Pol is the runner up. Steve Johnson, a junior center from Winthrop, receives honorable mention. Liberty has yet to win StatSheet Big South Player of the Week.
