Longwood's Tristan Carey has been selected as the StatSheet Big South Player of the Week for the week ending February 25th. StatSheet's Big South Freshman of the Week is John Brown from High Point. And last but certainly not least, Charleston Southern's Paul Gombwer has won StatSheet's Big South 6th Man of the Week.

Carey was the Big South leader in scoring (31.5 pts per game) and three pointers (6.0 per game). He also had huge numbers in both shooting (50%) and rebounding (7.5 per game). The Longwood junior played well for the Lancers in a victory versus Liberty and a loss to Tennessee-Martin.

Carey topped all scoring and rebounding for the Lancers with 40 points and 12 rebounds in a close 102-101 win against Liberty. He then led all scoring with 23 points and added 3 assists in an 89-79 loss to Tennessee-Martin.

This is the first time this season that Tristan Carey has been selected StatSheet Big South Player of the Week. The runner-up this week is our own John Caleb Sanders. Honorable mention goes to our own Davon Marshall.

StatSheet Big South Freshman of the Week: High Point's John Brown

John Brown averaged 27 minutes of playing time starting both games for High Point. His average in scoring (22.5 pts per game) topped all Big South freshmen. In a 78-67 win over Virginia Military Institute, Brown led all scoring and rebounding for the Panthers with 21 and 9 respectively. In a 75-68 loss to Morgan State, he led all scoring with 24 points and also put up 5 rebounds.

Amazingly, John Brown has won the StatSheet Big South Freshman of the Week 5 times. Michael Kessens from Longwood grabs runner-up. Honorable mention goes to Karl Ziegler from Longwood.

StatSheet Big South 6th Man of the Week: Charleston Southern's Paul Gombwer

Paul Gombwer, a 6-6 Sophomore forward, played an average of 22 minutes over three games for the Buccaneers. In a 72-54 win against Presbyterian, Gombwer got 7 points and 7 rebounds. Then in a strong 92-69 win over Virginia Military Institute, he racked up 5 points and 6 rebounds. Finally, in a 61-54 loss to Rider, Gombwer put up 7 points and 10 rebounds.

This is the first StatSheet Big South 6th Man of the Week win for Paul Gombwer. Cedrick Bowen, a sophomore forward from Charleston Southern, is runner up. Antwon Oliver, a junior forward from Campbell, receives honorable mention. Liberty has yet to win StatSheet Big South Player of the Week.
